HUMANITARIAN SHELTER & SETTLEMENTS

Humanitarian Shelter & Settlements is a process of providing financial, material, technical, and social assistance to meet the shelter needs of communities affected by disasters or humanitarian emergencies. The sheltering solution includes repairing damaged homes or building temporary shelters, improving building safety and living conditions, protecting the privacy of inhabitants, and facilitating long-term reconstruction.

Candidates pursuing certification for Shelter Management Officer need to satisfy the basic requirements of candidates for certification and complete all the ASCEND core and technical competency units of their chosen occupation.

To apply for certification on this occupation, the candidate needs to hold t least a bachelor’s degree issued by a higher education institution (e.g., University, Technical Institutes) recognised by the national government of where it operates. Formal education must be equivalent to the “Knowledge and Skills” descriptors of the ASEAN Qualif ication Reference Framework (AQRF) Level 5. The candidates also require to have a minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience similar to the “Application and Responsibility” descriptors of the AQRF Level 5. To apply for certification on this occupation, the candidate needs to hold at least a bachelor’s degree issued by a higher education institution (e.g., University, Technical Institutes) recognised by the national government of where it operates. ASEAN’s goal to become a global leader in disaster management by 2025, as articulated in the ASEAN Vision 2025 on Disaster Management.
